Budd-Chiari Syndrome

Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is an uncommon condition. It may vary in its presentation from very mild symptomatology, suggestive of a viral illness, to a very acute form with a fulminant course. Early diagnosis and treatment can make the difference between the development of hepatic failure requiring a transplant, and the sparing of hepatic function. The case presented here is that of a patient with a mild initial presentation but with an acute progression. The presentation as well as the management of this case is discussed.
