A Congenital Arteriovenous Malformation of the Right Subclavian ArteryA Case ReportDepartment of Vascular Surgery, University of Vermont/Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vermont
Department of Vascular Surgery, Boston Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts This is a case of a 67-year-old woman with a congenital arteriovenous fistula of the right upper extremity arising from the right subclavian artery. It was treated successfully with catheter-directed embolization techniques. In reviewing the literature, a high incidence of right-sided congenital arteriovenous malformations of the proximal upper extremity was identified. This high incidence may be related to the complexity of the embryologic development of the right subclavian artery.
