First Department of Internal Medicine, Osaka City University, Osaka, Japan The authors present 2 cases of acute pulmonary embolism in which intraoperative trans esophageal echocardiography guided successful surgical embolectomy. In their experi ences, transesophageal echocardiography was a safe and useful method of visualizing and detecting mobile thrombi in the operating room.
