Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Many complications related to the use of prosthetic aortic grafts in the treatment of aneurysmal and occlusive disease of the abdominal aorta have been reported. Early complications include bleeding, thrombosis, embolization, and infarction of the left colon. Late complications may be more difficult to diagnose and include graft infection, pseudoaneurysm formation, and aortoenteric fistula. We describe here a unique late complication following aortic reconstruction for aortofemoral occlusive disease. A brief review of the literature is presented.
