Degenerative Dacron Graft Changes: Is There A Biological Component in This Textile Defect ? — A Case Report

A false aneurysm occurring six years after insertion of a woven femoropopli teal dacron graft into a patient is discussed. The lesion clearly appeared during an anticoagulation overdosage. The authors propose, therefore, that an excess of anticoagulants may have an effect on the repair of a simple, accidental, da cron fiber rupture and thus contribute to the appearance and enlargement of an initially microscopic hole.

This suggests that, at least in some of the degenerative dacron graft changes, the interreaction between the host and plastic material may play a determinant role.
