Division of Neurological Surgery, University of California, San Diego, California The sequential changes seen on cerebral angiograms of rabbits after bilat eral common carotid artery ligation (carotid occlusion) are described. The basi lar artery increases in diameter and becomes tortuous within two weeks in the majority of animals in this study. The animals with the greatest increase in arterial lumen as determined by angiographic change had the fewest neurologic deficits. This model should be useful for studies on collateral flow.
