Ischemic Colitis Preceding Ruptured Aortic Aneurysm— A Case Report

Ram K. Mittal

Department of Surgery, Trinity Memorial Hospital, South Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Ischemic colitis following repair of a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm is a well-known and invariably fatal complication. Sometimes, obvious colon is chemia can be recognized at the end of the operation. Frequently, the diagnosis becomes obvious within the first week after the operation. The author treated a patient in whom colon ischemia preceded the rupture of aortic aneurysm. To his knowledge this has not been previously reported.
