Department of Surgery, University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio False aneurysm following carotid endarterectomy seldom occurs when the arteriotomy is closed primarily with durable polyester suture material. A case of pseudoaneurysm caused by infection is reported. The patient required re- exploration for acute hematoma postoperatively with insertion of a Penrose drain. Resection of the aneurysm and interposition of a saphenous vein graft resulted in no neurological complications.
