Department of Radiology, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada A patient with nephrotic syndrome due to membranous glomerulonephritis experienced an acute episode of left flank pain. A venacavogram revealed a large thrombus within the left renal vein, with clot extending into the inferior vena cava. He was treated with streptokinase for 72 hours. Venography verified complete disappearance of the renal and cava clots. Fibrinolytic therapy for renal vein thrombosis is discussed.
